KTM just announced an extended four-year warranty (standard two-year warranty, plus a two-year add-on) for a bunch of its machines, and now Husqvarna is following suit. Makes sense—their bikes are powered by basically the same engine, the LC8c parallel twin, which means both brands are dealing with bad press over some owners’ trouble with their cams, and both brands are also in the middle of being reorganized as their parent corp reboots their production line and stabilizes finances.
With all that in mind, it looks like the deal is the same for Husqvarna as it was for KTM: Take your LC8c-powered machine to the dealership for its properly-scheduled maintenance, and the mother ship will extend your warranty all the way out to four years. It’s a good deal for everyone involved, probably. From the OEM perspective, it removes the potential for owners who’ve skimped on their maintenance to then claim a faulty design trashed their cams.
